this book really took me by surprise!!! almost famous/TJR (hugo+DJ specifically) vibes but i think better written than TJR。my very minor complaint is that we never fully understand why chani is "obsessed" w gabe parker (he was even her phone background!) i feel like the reasoning should have been more than just he was hot。 this book really took me by surprise!!! almost famous/TJR (hugo+DJ specifically) vibes but i think better written than TJR。my very minor complaint is that we never fully understand why chani is "obsessed" w gabe parker (he was even her phone background!) i feel like the reasoning should have been more than just he was hot。 。。。more

I often find stories with a flashback element repetitive and slow, but this had perfect pacing。 Information was revealed at the right time, like a water fountain rather than a sudden storm - never dragging the suspense too long。 It unfolded naturally, and gave an offer of insight to the humanity behind celebrities。 Often romance novels have that element of having to ‘hate’ the guy they’ll inevitably fall in love with, but sounding like it’s completely in denial, so I found it refreshing that eve I often find stories with a flashback element repetitive and slow, but this had perfect pacing。 Information was revealed at the right time, like a water fountain rather than a sudden storm - never dragging the suspense too long。 It unfolded naturally, and gave an offer of insight to the humanity behind celebrities。 Often romance novels have that element of having to ‘hate’ the guy they’ll inevitably fall in love with, but sounding like it’s completely in denial, so I found it refreshing that even in her mind she was very open about how he made her feel, but trying to deny it in the very next sentence。 It felt authentic, and drove a top notch romance, leaving me wanting more little stories about their lives afterwards。 。。。more

A genuine delight。

I definitely enjoyed this but the conflict happened SO late in this book。 Just felt like it could have been a little more well rounded at the end instead of being rushed。 It could have used just another chapter at the end。

This story dealt with a writer and an actor reunited after a famous article brought them together。 I don't know if I'd classify it as romance, but it was a good story。 At it's best, it had some Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo vibes (celebrity, portions of the story told through news stories and gossip columns。) At its worst, it was a bit boring, and the ending felt rushed。 I'd definitely read more from this author if she writes more adult novels。Reminded me of:Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo This story dealt with a writer and an actor reunited after a famous article brought them together。 I don't know if I'd classify it as romance, but it was a good story。 At it's best, it had some Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo vibes (celebrity, portions of the story told through news stories and gossip columns。) At its worst, it was a bit boring, and the ending felt rushed。 I'd definitely read more from this author if she writes more adult novels。Reminded me of:Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo 。。。more

This book is fun and fast paced and great to get you out of a reading rut。 If you like celebrity profiles and rom-coms, I think you will love this book。 Great beach read。 Feel like a mix of Emily Henry and Sophie Cousens。

Chani, a reporter looking for her big break, is in her twenties and she gets the chance to interview and profile her idol, Gabe。 The book is told in alternating chapters between their original meeting and the 72 hours that followed and meeting up 10 years later。 I really wanted to find out what was going to happen and if their story would end!

Madeline Nixon

This didn’t wreck me like I hoped it would, but I still enjoyed the ride。 I absolutely adored the articles after every chapter, though。

3。5? Quick and fun read!

there was not an ounce of chemistry between chani and gabe😭

This book was witty, cute and very enjoyable! Definitely an easy read。 I loved the slow burn relationship between Chani and Gabe and the juxtaposition between the then and now timelines。 I didn’t feel that it was confusing to follow and really enhanced the overall plot。 Also the cover deserves 5 stars on its own! The most eye-catching, unique cover I’ve seen in a while。

I went into this with zero expectations, and wow wow wow! This book was absolutely incredible, looking forward to a reread already。

Rounded up to 4。5 stars。 I adored reading this book ❤️ It took me about 45 pages to really get into it and understand the dynamic of the storytelling, but once I did, I was hooked。 I loved the glitz and glam of a celebrity and non-celebrity love story, and I found the characters and their development to be believable and deeply enjoyable。 Highly recommend for romance readers and Hollywood fans。

I found Gabe Parker endlessly charming and related a bit too much to Chani。 A Jewish girl from Los Angeles who goes on scathing rants about Woody Allen and quotes The First Wives Club? In the words of my husband: “how does this author know you so well。” Turns out, I’ve never had an original thought in my whole life! eu AMO quando a história de um livro é maravilhosa igual a capa

Surprising-ly deep and real。 So many wonderful things packed into what I expected to be a fluffy little romance。 You will empathize with the characters as much as you will want to smack some sense into them。 Read! Enjoy!!

I enjoyed this! It was slow moving, but a fast read。

I LOVE a famous/non-famous person notting hill romance。

To say I devoured this book is an understatement。 4。5⭐️

Omg this book!!!!!This was so sweet!!! I can’t believe how quickly i read it。 I couldn’t stop。 Every chapter was amazing。 I loved it。 Gabe and Chani have my heart!!

I loved this book so much !!!! So smart I love the format。 I wouldn’t have picked it if it was not chosen for the bad on paper podcast book club。 I am not a huge fan of the celeb normal person romance。 But this was clever, fun and so touching。 4。5 stars。

I really tried to read it but I didn’t like the back and forth of past to present in the beginning。the plot line is too slow。

Flannery Buchanan

Listen this book is by no means perfect I loved their affair and everything that led up to it。 I also don’t typically enjoy the famous/not famous trope but this felt believable for me even with its flaws。 If you are looking for a smart rom com, give this a try。

The juxtaposition between a celebrity and a celebrity being an actual person is what Chani wrestles with throughout the story。 Will she or won’t she allow herself to fall in love with Gabe Parker the person and not Gabe Parker the celebrity。 This story is told from “then” and “now” perspectives which is the best way to tell the story。 It really helps you understand and empathize with all the characters。 How one manages fame in whatever manifestation that means to you is how we cope and become th The juxtaposition between a celebrity and a celebrity being an actual person is what Chani wrestles with throughout the story。 Will she or won’t she allow herself to fall in love with Gabe Parker the person and not Gabe Parker the celebrity。 This story is told from “then” and “now” perspectives which is the best way to tell the story。 It really helps you understand and empathize with all the characters。 How one manages fame in whatever manifestation that means to you is how we cope and become the best versions of ourselves thus, allowing us to accept love。 I was thrilled to read how Chani and Gabe finally embraced fame and found love! I have to say…The movie The Philadelphia Story is also one of my favorite movies and I’d love to see the version you created in this book on the silver screen!! 。。。more

Someone said if you liked The Idea of You (which if you haven't read DO IT RIGHT NOW), you'd like Funny You Should Ask and I found this to be true! A funny, entertaining book, a little steamy, and some laugh out loud moments。 I enjoyed the Now and Then format, ten years apart。 The characters are interesting, and the book is pure escapism…you get a peek into lives that are very different from most of us。
